How to Use Twitter For Your Business

Twitter is one of the internet's hottest and most powerful marketing tools. Twitter allows you to connect with hundreds, even thousands of people who could be potential customers. But, how to use Ttwitter for your business? Here are some rules and etiquette that you need to be aware of.

1. Create and interesting and personal twitter page. Don't be afraid of exposing a little of yourself. This is a social network. People want to be able to know a little about you. Use twitter services and create a background that tells a little about you and who you are. Add a picture of yourself, and expand you bio. If you want to connect socially with people and have them trust you and eventually do business with you, you can't be afraid of getting out there personally.

2. Go ahead and add followers. You need to look for people who have something in common with you. Look for people that have interests like your own, so you can share socially with them. Also look for people who are in the same type of business as you or people who you think might be interested in what you have to offer. Take a little time to look at their bio.

3. Be aware that Twitter has ways of tracking how you add followers and will stop you if they don't like your following patterns or your percentages. For instance, once you've followed 2000 people, there are limits to the number of additional users you can follow: this limit is different for every user and is based on your ratio of followers to following. They also have other rules. You need to educate yourself using the twitter available in the twitter support area, or risk getting your account suspended.

4. Twitter etiquette dictates that you should not market more than once every 7-10 tweets. But the most important rule is: DON'T SPAM! Spamming only causes people to loose interest and drop away. Also, twitter is on the lookout for spammers, and will suspend your account. What you do need to do is to remember to make all your tweets interesting. Use a quote from someone you admire, ask questions, make an observation about someone, tell a joke. Don't be afraid to give valuable information to people. You are trying to create a loyal following and interest in people so they look forward to your tweets.

Over time you can gain a large twitter following. If you embrace the essence of what twitter is, and authentically join the community, you can not only benefit from vastly increasing traffic to your website, but have fun in meeting and making valuable connections with hundreds of new people.
