An etiquette consultant is a person who has been given a training certificate by a recognized etiquette school. The skills of individual etiquette consultants vary; some specialize in teaching proper etiquette to children, while some are more knowledgeable in teaching teens and adults.
Each age group has a different requirement. Children generally need only the basic codes of general etiquette. Etiquette training for adults may have a completely different goal - like getting a job by creating a smooth, credible, professional image.
Children are often taught basic etiquette like:

- how to shake hands with acquaintances,
- how to set a formal dinner table,
- different eating styles,
- how to act toward guests when they are invited into homes,

Business etiquette is another group of social skills that can help professionals create the perfect image of success. This image of success can be utilized to earn a promotion during an interview or close an important deal with a client.
Teenagers can also benefit from a little 'polishing' with proper etiquette training. Being knowledgeable of proper etiquette allows a teenager to confidently face unfamiliar events and people, make great first impressions on new acquaintances and learn the why and how of being kind, polite and respectful.
This is very important, because a teenager is in a transition period between the freedom of childhood and the responsibilities of adulthood. Etiquette training will ensure that when a teenager enters college on his lonesome, he brings with him the skills that will win him new friends and make his social life bloom.
